Intermediate & Advanced Classes

Raku Class

Raku Class

Next Session Starts: October 2018

Raku is the special technique of creating pottery with open flame.
You will create pieces in the studio, and then on firing day we will be placing pottery in an outdoor kiln, removing the pieces when they are molten hot, and set them aflame. Fire needs oxygen in order to burn, so the flames pull oxygen out of the glazes and leave a wonderful ephemeral mix of colors and metallics.

We will be using a variety of raku glazes including housemade crackle and matte glazes.

This class includes two create classes, and a firing day on Saturday. You will be able to fire up to 6 of yours pieces on the firing day.

Class Days:
Oct 11 6:30-8:30
Oct 18 6:30-8:30

Firing Day: October 27  10am-4pm
You will take your pieces home on October 27.
