Here’s to homemade bread in handmade pottery!

The Recipes

These recipes were formulated to fit into our bread bakers. They do not need to be doubled.   

Basic White Bread

Ingredients:
1 1/2 c unbleached white flour, plus extra for kneading
1 1/2 tsp olive oil, plus extra for the bowl
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 pkg dry yeast
1/2 c luke warm water
1 tsp mascavo sugar

Instructions:
In a small bowl combine the yeast, warm water and sugar. Let sit a few minutes until it blooks. In a bowl, mix the flour, olive oil and salt. Add the water with the yeast and mix unitl dough is formed. Add more water by the tsp if it is too dry. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead until smooth, about 2 or 3 minutes. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a clean dish towel and let rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour. 

Spray baker bowl with oil, fill up to 2/3 full with batter.
Place the bread and baking bowl in a cold oven. Set the temperature to 350 degrees.

Bake ~45 minutes. 

Banana Bread

Ingredients:
3 Tbls milk
1 tsp vinegar
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 c shortening
3/4 c sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 mashed banana
1 c flour
1/4 tsp salt

Instructions:
Mix milk with vinegar and baking soda. Let stand. 
Cream together shortening, sugar, and egg.
Add milk mixture, vanilla, and banana.
Mix in flour and salt.
Spray baker bowl with oil, fill up to 2/3 full with batter.
Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. 

Boston Brown Bread

Ingredients:
2/3 c raisins
2/3 c water
1 Tbl oil
1/2 c sugar
1 egg
1 Tbl molasses
1 1/3 c flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt

Instructions:
Microwave raisins and water for 3 min. Let cool.
Cream together oil, sugar, and egg.
Add molasses with the water. Mix in flour, baking soda, salt.
Spray baker bowl with oil, fill up to 2/3 full with batter.
Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees.

Monkey Bread

Ingredients:
1 can butter milk biscuits, quartered
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c margarine/butter
1/4 c brown sugar
1 Tbls cinnamon
(nuts and raisins if desired)

Instructions:
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a plastic bag.
Drop biscuit quarters into mixture and shake to coat.
Place in well greased bread baker.
Continue until all biscuits are coated in the pot.
Melt butter and brown sugar in microwave.
Drizzle over biscuits.
Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Brown Sugar Bread

Ingredients:
Combine:
2 c. sifted self-rising flour
1/2 t. cinnamon
1 c. brown sugar
Add:
1 t. vanilla
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 c. applesauce
1 tsp maple flavoring
1/2 c margarine
1/4 c. milk

Instructions:
Spray bread baker with non-stick spray.
Lower baking rack to prevent top of bread from browning too quickly.
Pour batter into baker and bake at 350º for 60-70 minutes.

Beer Bread

Ingredients:
3 c. self-raising flour
3 Tbls. sugar
1 can of beer (warm temperature)

Instructions: Mix together and pour into well greased bread baker.
Rub butter on top while baking to brown better.
Bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

Variations:
Substitute 1/2 c. whole wheat flour for 1/2 c. flour.
Add cinnamon and sugar or pecans or walnuts
Add Tbsp of favorite herb, garlic, dill, etc.

Baked Cream Cheese Appetizer

Ingredients:
1/2 (8 oz.) package refrigerated crescent rolls
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese
1/2 tsp dried dill weed
Pam cooking spray

Instructions:
Unroll dough on a lightly floured surface; press together seams to form a 12 x 4 inch rectangle.
Sprinkle one side of the cream cheese with half of the dill weed. Place the brick of cream cheese dill side down in the center of the dough. Sprinkle dill on top of cream cheese. Enclose cream cheese by bringing sides of dough together and pressing edges to seal. Place dough on a baker sprayed with Pam. Spray top of dough lightly with Pam.
Bake 350º until golden brown.

Easy Herb Bread

Ingredients:
Combine:
3 c. sifted self-rising flour
2-3 Tbls sugar
1/2 tsp basil
1 tsp rosemary
1/2 tsp oregano
1/3 c parmesan cheese
add:
1 can of beer (room temp.)

Instructions:
Spray bread baker with non-stick spray.
Lower baking rack to prevent top of bread from browning too quickly.
Pour batter into baker and bake at 350º for 60-70 minutes.

Three Cheese Bread

Ingredients:
Combine:
2 1/2 c. sifted self-rising flour
2-3 Tbls sugar
3/4 c shredded colby or cheddar cheese
3/4 c shredded monterey jack or pepper jack cheese
1/3 c parmesan cheese
add:
1 can of beer (room temp.)

Instructions:
Spray bread baker with non-stick spray.
Lower baking rack to prevent top of bread from browning too quickly.
Pour batter into baker and bake at 350º for 60-70 minutes.

Pizza Bread

Ingredients:
Combine:
2 1/2 c. sifted self-rising flour
2 Tbls sugar
1/3 c diced pepperoni
1/3 c diced green peppers and onions
1/3 c sun dried tomatoes
1/3 c parmesan cheese
3/4 c mozzarella cheese
add:
1 can of beer (room temp.)

Instructions:
Spray bread baker with non-stick spray.
Lower baking rack to prevent top of bread from browning too quickly.
Pour batter into baker and bake at 350º for 60-70 minutes.
