Raku Experience Workshop
Raku pottery is the technique of taking pottery out of a kiln while it is still glowing orange and hot, and placing it in a barrel of combustibles, essentially lighting the pottery on fire.
The fire then alters the glaze outcomes by producing copper flashes and wonderful crackling effects.
With your raku experience, you’ll pick two pieces of pottery from our pre-created selection. You will be guided through how to glaze your pieces and then participate in the firing process. You will take your pieces home the same day.
Enjoy the summer weather while having fun creating. Bring a friend and share a memorable experience. Opening a can to reveal what the fire did to a piece feels like unwrapping a birthday present every single time.
Age Requirement: 12+ years old
Under 18? Parent/guardian must be present for the duration of the event.
$130 per participant
Looking for a more in-depth lesson? We offer 8-week classes.

Workshop Outline
We will start with a short tour of the space, where to find everything, as well as where things go for clean up. Then we will walk you through how to prepare your clay and your wheel station for throwing, including wedging your clay and getting the right tools for the job.
After the introduction, we will demo throwing on the wheel for attendees, and talking through focus areas.
Off to the wheel you go, and you begin centering your clay and moving toward creating your piece.
After throwing for a bit, we clean up and wrap up the workshop with glaze choices. You will pick a glaze for each of your pieces that you decide to keep.
- Sharing Introductions, as well as taking a short studio tour
